OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nick Lorusso’s walk-off home run in the 10th inning gave Maryland a rain-delayed 2-1 victory over Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament. The game was tied at 1 in the seventh inning before a 1 1/2-hour weather delay due to lightning in the area. Neither team threatened to score after the delay, but Maryland only needed one swing from Lorusso, who homered to left-center on a 2-2 pitch with two out in the 10th. It was Lorusso’s 24th home run and 100th RBI of the season. Top-seeded Maryland advances to a semifinal on Saturday, facing the winner of the Nebraska-Michigan State loser-out game, which is Friday.

UNDATED (AP) — Scouting and recruiting players in the NCAA transfer portal has become a vital part of building a college football program. And the process moves fast. To sift through a mountain of names, NFL-style personnel departments are using data and statistics from online analytics companies to more efficiently identify players who can help their teams. Information and services from companies such as SportSource Analytics, Tracking Football and The UCReport have become essential in college football's new age of free agency.
UNDATED (AP) — The spring transfer window lasts just 15 days and is not nearly as active as the 45-day window after the college football season — except if your Colorado. Coach Deion Sanders’ team has added 20 transfers since the portal window opened April 15. The Buffaloes are up to 48 transfers overall, according to 247 Sports, and have room for more. Other schools went for quality over quantity. USC, Alabama, Auburn and Northwestern are among six winners from the spring transfer season.
UNDATED (AP) — An NCAA-commissioned survey of 18- to 22-year-olds shows more than half acknowledged placing sports wagers and two-thirds of those who live on college campuses saying they engage in betting. The survey results come less than a month after the baseball coach at Alabama and athletes at Iowa and Iowa State were found to have made wagers in violation of NCAA rules. The purpose of the survey was to explore the prevalence of gambling. Thirty-percent of the 3,500 respondents said their typical wager was between $10 and $20. But 6% said they have lost more than $500 in a single day.
