Praying for our leaders to always choose life

I applaud the recent ruling by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, Ohio. On June 28, they put an end to an appeal of a 2017 Kentucky law which requires doctors to perform ultrasounds and show fetal images to mothers before they make their final decision to abort their baby.

If you’ve ever heard the heartbeat of a baby during an ultrasound, you know it is just another proof of the biblical teaching that we are formed by God in our mother’s womb (Psalm 139: 13-16). It leaves little doubt that there is a real and active human being alive and kicking on the inside of that expecting mother.

Mothers aren’t forced to look at the ultrasound and can ask that the sound be turned off, but we should want a parent to have all the information they need as they make a life or death decision for the child.

I am grateful for Gov. Matt Bevin and the Kentucky legislators who have led the way to protect these precious lives. The 6th Circuit has done the right thing in this decision that helps to protect the unborn.

May God give us leaders in courtrooms, state houses, and in the public square who take morally correct positions and may individuals and churches pray for our leaders that they may always choose life.
